It doesn't necessarily have to be the typical first day of school picture wearing the backpack on the front porch, in front of the fireplace, favorite tree or any other classic location, though we love those! Even if you miss the first day, capturing the beginning of each new school year helps you to capture the growth that occurs through each one.

I've noticed a trend of getting back to school photoshoots, and have fallen in love with the idea. Scroll through your Facebook page or Instagram and I'm sure you'll see quite a few of these. At first when I saw them I just thought they were cute, but the more I saw, the more in love with the idea I fell. 

You can use these photoshoots to capture your child's interests at this stage, and watch their evolution with each passing year, which interests change, and which ones stick with them year over year. For a fun side by side comparison capture the beginning and end of each school year, and compare just one year of growth and change. 

Whether you do a photoshoot, or candid shots on the first day, documenting this part of your child's life is something you will never regret. From the first day of daycare, or kindergarten, through high school and college, looking back you'll be amazed at how much, and how little your baby changes.
